Garden Museum | Until 5 July

Best known for his iconic fashion photography, Cecil Beaton had a bouquet of creative talents: he was also an accomplished costume and set designer for film, theatre and ballet, and a gifted artist. This exhibition is the first to examine the common thread weaving through Beaton’s work: gardens and flowers.

Photographs, paintings, drawings, costume and set design will explore the role flowers played in developing Cecil Beaton’s creative practice; from the lavish floral installations he created for parties with flowers from his own gardens, to painted and fresh flowers used as backdrops for fashion photography and royal portraits, to the famous floral costumes in My Fair Lady.

Curated by Garden Museum Curator Emma House and designed by artist and designer Luke Edward Hall.

What happens when you strip away the filters, the facades, the carefully curated image of yourself? Radical Honesty. Robbie Williams endorses this brave act in his latest exhibition with Moco Museum—to sit with the mess, face judgment head-on, and rejoice in the cringeworthy truths of being human.

For Radical Honesty, Robbie Williams presents never-before-seen work and sculptures, expanding his visual language of sarcasm, self-deprecation, and playful irreverence. Anxiety, self-love, introversion, morning affirmations—it’s all here, blunt and unpolished, yet oddly comforting.

Radical honesty is a daily practice of self-acceptance. A choice to be real, even when it’s messy – especially when it’s messy. Because in a world obsessed with filters and facades, the real you is honestly the most radical thing there is.

Hayward Gallery | From 10 June Until 31 August

Celebrated across the globe for his powerful portraits with eyes that gaze back at the viewer, and his drawings that engage with daily experiences, Nara is also known for his wood, fibreglass and ceramic sculptures as well as his installations of little houses.

Nara’s work explores themes of resistance, rebellion, isolation, freedom and spirituality. This thematic exhibition reveals enduring influences on the artist’s work, particularly nature and its mythology, the peace movement, the significance of home, and his interest in punk and rock music and popular culture.

Born in 1959 in Japan’s Aomori prefecture, Yoshitomo Nara completed the Master of Fine Arts programme at the Aichi University of the Arts in 1987. Nara subsequently moved to Germany in 1988 and began his enrolment at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. After residing in Cologne, he returned to Japan in 2000.

Saatchi Gallery | From 13 June Until 27 July

The RHS Botanical Art and Photography Show 2025 will feature a rich variety of subjects including  stunning Japanese cherry blossom, the unusual ‘kangaroo paw’ plants of Australia, and plants used in traditional cosmetics by Korean women. A common theme in this year’s exhibit is plants that have been relied on by humans – whether for beauty, clothing, medicine or fuel. Portfolio photography features a diverse range of plants, gardens and natural habitats with subjects ranging from Tuscan olive trees to the Acacia cyclops of South Africa’s richly biodiverse Cape Floral Kingdom.

All of the art has undergone a meticulous reviewing process by an expert judging panel and assessed on aesthetic appeal, scientific accuracy and technical skill. Once on display, the artists compete for an RHS medal – Gold, Silver-Gilt, and Bronze, as well as a ‘best in show’ award – Best Botanical Artwork, Best Botanical Art Exhibit, Best Portfolio Photography Exhibit, Best Single Image and Judges Special Award.  The public will once again have the opportunity to vote in the People’s Choice award via the RHS website.

The Show contributes to a long legacy of botanical art collecting and display by the RHS, and complements the work of the RHS Lindley Collections, which holds more than 30,000 botanical paintings and heritage photographs

National Portrait Gallery | From 20 June Until 07 September

Saville rose to prominence in the early 1990s, following her acclaimed degree show at the Glasgow School of Art. Since then, she has played a leading role in the reinvigoration of figurative painting – a genre that she continues to test today. Her unique ability to create visceral portraits from thick layers of paint reveals an artist with a deep passion for the process itself.

From charcoal drawings to large-scale oil paintings of the human form, this chronological display includes works that question the historical notions of female beauty, the monumental nudes that launched Saville to acclaim in 1992, and new works on display for the first time‭.‬

See the first UK exhibition of Mexico’s much-loved artist, José María Velasco.

Velasco, working in Mexico in the 19th century, was a man of many interests. He was fascinated by advances in geology, the archaeology of his home country, the study of local flora, and the increasing presence of industrialisation.

He painted the sweeping landscapes of the Valley of Mexico, the home of modern-day Mexico City, with exquisite detail. His impressive panoramic views of the valley reveal allusions to Mexico’s historic past and its rapidly modernising present.

Velasco was keenly aware of his country’s industrialisation, capturing expanding train lines and factories alongside botanically accurate studies of plants. His scientific eye inspired his art, and his love of geology is clear to see in his detailed depictions of rocks and volcanoes.

This exhibition, the first ever dedicated to a historical Latin American artist at the National Gallery, marks the 200th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Mexico and the UK. And it celebrates Velasco’s place among the great 19th-century landscape painters.

Exhibition organised by the National Gallery and the Minneapolis Institute of Art. Curated by Dexter Dalwood and Daniel Sobrino Ralston, the National Gallery’s CEEH Associate Curator of Spanish Paintings, from an initial concept by Dexter Dalwood.
